Acid Stains
Reactive acid stains are designed to chemically change or enhance the colour of cement based products. Unique in colour and appearance reactive stain is fast becoming the product of choice when people want to breathe new life into old concrete with minimal cost.
Acid stains are produced using a mild hydrochloric acid with metallic salts derived from different metal ores. When the acid stain comes into contact with the free limes in the concrete cement matrix the chemical stain permanently changes the colour of the concrete.
Acid stains can be used to stain an entire concrete surface or to add colour full highlights to decorative features or boarders. Many different effects can be achieved with different application techniques. The natural pallet of colours that can be produced with acid stains will transform stamped concrete into a masterpiece.
Prior to applying acid stains it is important to try a test area first. Acid stain is a chemical reaction in which the final colour will depend on the concrete characteristics. The colour is transparent and will work differently on alternative coloured concrete surfaces.
