The primary products for pattern imprinted concrete are colour hardeners, release powders and sealers. The combination of these materials and the imprinting process is what allows concrete to take the form of other building materials. STAMPED CONCRETE VIDEO
Colour hardeners are dry shake materials made form graded silica sand, ordinary Portland cement and organic pigments. When colour hardeners are applied to the surface of concrete they can increase the surface impact and abrasion resistance up to 33%, providing a long lasting durable surface.
Ideal Work Elite Crete colour hardeners are manufactured in an automated ribbon blender with a high speed refiner. When the blending process is complete the colour hardener is discharged through a weight controlled bagging machine. Ideal Work Elite Crete colour hardeners are designed to meet industry standards and have been independently tested.
Release powders are used as a bond breakers between the fresh concrete and the imprinting tools used for texturing concrete. The release powder is also pigmented to add the secondary colour which gives the stamped concrete surface the antiqued two tone effect.
Powdered Release agents are produced using calcium stearate, talc and organic pigments blended to a specific formula, which provides the perfect bond breaker and colouring agent for the imprinting concrete process.
Liquid Release is a colourless alternative to powdered release that is spray applied to the surface of the concrete and the underside of the imprinting stamps used to texture the concrete. Liquid release is often used for indoor stamped concrete projects to minimise the dust and reduce the need for cleaning with high pressure water.
Ideal Work Elite Crete offers a wide range of sealers with alternative features and benefits to suit the project requirements. Most external imprinted concrete is sealed using our solvent based acrylic sealer in high gloss or matt finish. We also produce hybrid water based acrylic sealers that provide a more satin finish than the solvents.
Imprinted concrete needs to be sealed to protect the textured surface from stains. Sealers also enhance the colour hardeners and release powders to bring out the natural colours. Stamped concrete surfaces should be periodically inspected for areas that may need to be re-sealed to maintain the protection of the imprinted concrete texture.
